About the Organisation

Roper Gulf Regional Council (RGRC) provides a range of services over an area that spans 185,000 sq km (80% the size of Victoria) that covers the region east and southeast of Katherine, Northern Territory. The total estimated resident population of the region is 6,919.

About the Opportunity

Roper Gulf Regional Council (RGRC) now has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Compliance Coordinator to join their team in Katherine, NT.

Working within the Council and Community Services division, you'll be responsible for:

  • Coordinating contracts that deliver a range of services within the Community Services business unit under Council’s ‘Caring for Community’ strategic initiative;
  • Maintaining positive stakeholder relationships between Roper Gulf Regional Council and its funding bodies;
  • Assisting with improving efficiencies to existing processes and using initiative to develop new, more efficient processes within the Community Services divisions;
  • Identifying and monitoring grant funding to ensure the Council has sufficient budget to deliver its services and activities adequately;
  • Liaising with Directors and Regional Managers to clarify grant funding requirements;
  • Monitoring compliance, reporting dates and the delivery of KPI’s;
  • Supporting the manager and maintaining a financially sustainable delivery model for Community Services programs to ensure contractual compliance;
  • Performing operational and activity planning for DCCS; and
  • Assisting with business modelling and program project analysis.

RGRC is seeking candidates with tertiary qualifications (minimum diploma level) in Business Management, along with strong financial acumen and the ability to resolve complex problems.

Due to the nature of the role, experience in the development of operational plans and associated reporting within a multi-disciplinary environment is required. 

Importantly, you’ll have an understanding and genuine interest in Indigenous culture, with the ability to liaise with Indigenous community members in a culturally sensitive manner. Previous experience working in a similar position within the Local Government sector, or within a cross cultural environment will be highly regarded.

About the Katherine Region

Prior to employment with Roper Gulf Regional Council you must:

  • Hold a current Northern Territory 'C' class manual driver's licence and confidently drive manual 4x4 vehicles on unsealed roads;
  • Undertake a new criminal history check at commencement of employment with RGRC;
  • At commencement of employment hold a current Working with Children Clearance Notice (OCHRE Card) or provide an application receipt for an exemption to be approved by SAFE NT prior to commencing; and
  • Be an Australian Resident or provide the current, relevant Visa to work within Australia.
