Roper Gulf Regional Council (RGRC) provides a range of services over an area that spans 185,000 sq km (80% the size of Victoria) that covers the region east and southeast of Katherine, Northern Territory. The total estimated resident population of the region is 6,919.

Roper Gulf Regional Council (RGRC) now has a fantastic opportunity for an Area Manager - Roper to lead the frontline services team on a full-time, 3 year fixed term contract. This role will be based in Ngukurr, Northern Territory.
Reporting to the Director of Council and Community Services, you will be responsible for providing management and overseeing the delivery of core municipal services, information and community engagement services and Community Safety Services under Council’s strategic initiatives in the towns of Borroloola, Ngukurr and Numbulwar of the Roper Management Area.

To be considered for this position you must have a demonstrated record of achievement in the delivery of local government or community services; asset management and community development projects. With a strong management background, you will be able to effectively develop, manage, motivate and control work teams to achieve a diverse range of contractual and organisational goals and objectives.
Roper Gulf Regional Council is seeking someone with highly developed financial management skills, including the ability to develop annual budgets and be accountable for expenditure across multiple business units. Additionally, it is also important to the success of this role that you posses research skills in order to resolve complex and multi-faceted problems as they arise.
Candidates with an awareness of issues affecting Indigenous communities in remote locations will be best suited to this position, equipping you with the ability to communicate and negotiate effectively with Indigenous people.
Please note: A current 'C' class driver's licence and a Working with Children Clearance Notice (OCHRE Card) are essential to be considered for this position. You will also be required to undertake a criminal history check and update each year as required. Please note, some out of hours work, including occasional travel to remote communities requiring overnight stays will be required.
